Our aim is to help close the social attainment gap by recruiting a global community of academic talent to make effective online teaching more accessible than ever before.

To achieve this goal we recruit and train academic talent from across Sri Lanka and India, creating jobs and opportunities to teach children in schools across the UK.

Since 2013 we have recruited over 1000 tutors, who have taught 800,000 sessions to 50,000 children.

We work with schools via Third Space Learning

  • Providing one-to-one maths programmes, mostly to support pupil premium children in the run up to SATs.
  • 48,000+ primary school children taught in 1600+ schools across the UK by 1,000+ tutors across India and Sri Lanka
  • A large modern, custom built Tutor Centre in Colombo
  • 40+ Team in London, focused on marketing, technology and analytics

We work with families via Matr.org

  • Offers one-to-one maths programmes to children at home delivered by our Tutor Community.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Evaluate, monitor and improve the Teaching & Learning standards of our in-house mathematics tutors
  • Identify & analyse the training needs of our tutor community
  • Evaluate tutor performance through robust data analysis
  • Design and implement tutor training programmes based on needs analysis
  • Provide leadership to our quality assurance and training & development teams
  • Overall management of the Academic department
  • People management of Training & Development team (currently 2 Assistant Managers) and Quality assurance team (approx. 20 members within an organised hierarchy)
  • Observe training delivery & give feedback to in-house trainers
  • Improve the Teaching & Learning evaluation skills of quality assurance team members in line with current evaluation framework.

You have:

  • UK qualified teacher status; Primary or Secondary Mathematics, with a solid understanding of pedagogy and the UK primary mathematics curriculum
  • Experience in mentoring/coaching others in an education setting (formal lesson observations & giving structured feedback). You love learning. You get a kick out of helping others develop. You’re patient. You have excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of emotional intelligence
  • A proven track record of incorporating ICT into classroom teaching
  • A strong self-drive to succeed. You love proactively taking on difficult challenges and finding creative solutions. You adapt quickly and have a meticulous attention to detail
  • A strong sense of responsibility. You’re going to take ownership of the time you spend with us and truly make a difference.
     

You might also have:

  • Experience in leading and/or delivering teacher/tutor training programmes
  • Experience of working outside the UK
  • Experience of working in industry (outside of schools)
  • Strong knowledge of spreadsheet skills for data analysis.

Your department: Academic Operations Team

Reporting to: Head of Academic Operations (who reports to CEO)

Your typical day as a Teaching & Learning Co-ordinator:

  • Participate in the Senior Leadership Team Daily briefing
  • Lead the Academic Team Daily briefing
  • Troubleshoot any unexpected problems (some fun, most not-so-fun!)
  • Observe the quality of training delivered by a member of your team to a new group of tutors and give honest feedback
  • Present & contribute to discussion at the resource/budget meeting
  • Meet with a member of the London team to discuss tutor performance and training needs
  • Lead the design of new training resources
  • Enjoy cake/sweets with one of our tutors celebrating their birthday/1st paycheck/wedding..
  • Be available to answer questions from the academic training team and provide emergency cover
  • Quickly review one of our online 1-to-1 maths lessons, where a serious concern has been raised
  • Prepare for your weekly meeting with your line manager.
     

Your commitment to us:

  • Ideally willing to commit to a 2 year contract
  • Working full time based out of Colombo Office
  • Work a combination of local business and UK shift times as required.
